Equality and Diversity
Castledon School recognises, and takes very seriously, our public sector equality duty to have due regard to:
a) Eliminate discrimination and other conduct that is prohibited by the Equality Act 2010
b) Advance equality of opportunity between people who share a protected characteristic and people who do not share it
c) Foster good relations across all characteristics between people who share a protected characteristic and people who do not share it
Castledon School is committed to promoting equality of opportunity for all members of its family. We aim to create a working environment in which all individuals are able to make best use of their skills, free from discrimination or harassment.
Under the Equality Act 2010 public bodies must publish equality objectives. In order to meet the obligations under the public sector equality duty we have identified the following as objectives.
Equality objectives 2023-2027

Objective 2: To ensure the curriculum design and pathways meet the needs of more complex learners who join Castledon in the primary phase of the school
Objective 3: To address cultural events through assemblies and the curriculum to increase student awareness and understanding of issues in different communities
Objective 4: To monitor the effectiveness of our provision in line with statutory RSE guidance to ensure protected characteristics are understood by all students
Objective 5: To keep effective records for discriminatory incidents, as well as ensuring effective follow up for all involved
